COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Senior thrower Michael Campbell earned the bronze medal in the men’s weight throw to open competition at Texas A&M’s Ted Nelson Invitation, Friday afternoon at the R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor track facility.
With just two events on the Friday schedule, Campbell earned the lone medal for UTSA on the day, hitting an 18.91m (62-0.5) measurement to register a third-place finish in the weight. Senior transfer Garrett Strokes threw a 17.52m (57-5.75) for seventh place.
In the women’s weight, sophomore transfer Nyaluet Diew recorded a 16.66m (54-8) mark to finish eighth in the final.
The Ted Nelson Invitational continues on Saturday, opening up at 10 a.m. with the 3,000m and concluding in the late afternoon with the 4x400-meter relays. Field events start at 11 a.m. with the shot put.
