SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team (0-1) will open their home schedule on Saturday at the UTSA Tennis Center, welcoming UT Rio Grande Valley (0-2) to San Antonio for the 38th time in one of the older series in program history. First serve between the Roadrunners and Vaqueros is set for 11 a.m.

About the Roadrunners
The Roadrunners opened up the 2025 season last Saturday in College Station, falling to 14th-ranked Texas A&M on the road, 6-1. The Roadrunners put in a battle and Oskar Grzegorzewski notched a 7-6(4), 6-4, [10-7] victory over Giulio Perego. The Roadrunners posted a 10-10 record and are in the first season under new head coach Sasha Gozun – making his home debut at UTSA.
About the Vaqueros
UT Rio Grande Valley opened the season at 0-2, braving the trip to Austin to face No. 1 Texas with a 7-0 loss and then moving on to a Jan. 17 meeting at Rice, also leading to a 7-0 loss. Coming off a 9-17 finish last season, the Vaqueros are led by Nathan Robinson in his fourth season in Edinburg.
Series with UTRGV
One of UTSA’s older series, dating back to 1982 and when UTRGV was UT Pan American, the Roadrunners hold a 40-10 advantage in the all-time record and are 31-6 playing in San Antonio. The Roadrunners have earned the win in each of the last 10 consecutive matches, including last year’s midweek trip to Edinburg that proved to be a 7-0 Roadrunners victory on Jan. 24, 2024.
