SAN ANTONIO — Following up a 15-medal 2025 debut at Northern Arizona, the UTSA track & field teams will travel up to College Station and the first of two meets this season at R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track, competing in the Ted Nelson Invitational, Friday-Saturday, Jan. 24-25.
On the week, Ida Breigan (long jump) and Shadae Findley (400-meter) received first-opportunity honors as the American Athletic Conference women’s Athletes of the Week. Findley knocked .3 seconds off the 400m record and was joined by Mia Lien as a record-breaker, with Lien knocking down the 10-year-old high jump mark by .01 meters. Also earning gold in Arizona at the Lumberjack Team Challenge were Christiaan Le Roux (long jump), Mike Roth (400m) and Nyaluet Diew (shot put).
Breigan leads the women in the national rankings, coming in at fifth in the long jump with a 6.50m (21-4) measurement, followed by Lien at 17th on her record-breaking 1.80 (5-10.75) height, Findley at 21st after her 53.98 clocking, Brina Likar at 35th in the long jump at 6.12m (20-1) and Diew at 38th in the shot put at 15.87m (52-1). For the men, Le Roux is 18th on a 7.59m (24-11) long jump measurement, Roth is 37th on a 47.25 quarter-mile clocking, Dylan James ties for 42nd on a 7.44m (24-5) long jump and Michael Campbell is 50th in the weight throw at 19.99m (65-7).
Hosted by Texas A&M at the second-year R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track facility, the Ted Nelson Invitational will get started on Friday, Jan. 24, with the men’s and women’s weight throw events, beginning at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 25, the competition schedule opens at 10 a.m. with the 3,000-meter to kick off the meet and running events. Field events start at 11 a.m. with the shot put. Saturday’s events will run into the late afternoon and finish with the 4x400-meter relays.
The Roadrunners will compete against athletes from Texas A&M, Air Force, Auburn, Georgia, Houston, SMU, South Carolina, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, UNLV, UT-Arlington and Vanderbilt.
