UTSA to visit Memphis on Wednesday

The Roadrunners will square off against the Tigers at Elma Roane Fieldhouse

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team is set to continue American Athletic Conference play Wednesday at 7 p.m. as they visit Memphis at Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Greg Gaston (play-by-play) and Trey Draper (analyst) on the call. Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.

The Roadrunners (14-2, 5-0 The American) were successful last week, picking up a 67-58 victory over Rice before taking down Wichita State, 69-51. The victories allowed UTSA to tie their best-ever start to a conference campaign, with a 5-0 record tying the 1983-84 squad. UTSA also recorded their seventh straight victory and 10th consecutive win in the Convocation Center, tying the second-longest streak in program history.

Redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins was once again phenomenal for the squad, as she averaged 21.0 PPG and 8.5 RPG with four blocks and three steals across the wins to earn her fourth AAC Player of the Week award of the season.

Jenkins remains The American's scoring leader, with 315 total points and 19.7 PPG both 28th in the NCAA. She tops the conference in free throws (70), free throw percentage (84.3), and field goals (116) while sitting second in blocks (23) and eighth in rebounds per game (7.1). Along with Jenkins, graduate student Nina De Leon Negron dishes out 5.1 assists per game that rank 37th across the country, and her 2.14 assists/turnover ratio is second in the league.

As a team, the 'Runners boast an 11.2 rebound margin that slots them eighth nationally. A scoring defense of 54.7 is 17th, and 15.1 offensive rebounds per game are 23rd. UTSA is also 27th in field goal percentage defense, with the opposition managing a 36.2% clip against the 'Runners and 4.5 blocks per game are 34th.

The Tigers (3-12, 1-3 The American) are looking to avoid a four-game skid after falling to UAB, 73-56, and Rice, 70-59, last week.

Four members of the squad average double-digit scoring figures, including Tilly Boler, whose 16.9 PPG leads the team. DeeDee Hagemann, meanwhile, scores 12.2 PPG, and Alasia Smith is not far behind at 12.1 PPG. Smith paces the squad in rebounds with 8.3 RPG, blocks with 13, and steals with 33.
