SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women’s tennis team is set to host a makeup match against Sam Houston on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at UTSA Tennis Center. The match was originally scheduled for Feb. 4 but was canceled due to windy weather and later rescheduled for March 27.
The Roadrunners hold a 12-6 record, after a doubleheader sweep against Prairie View on Saturday. UTSA won the first match by 5-2, before clinching the sweep with a 4-0 win in the second match. Three Roadrunners have picked up nine wins this season, including Ekua Youri, Aleksandra Zlatarova and Fatima Gutierrez. The duo of Cassie McLay and Zlatarova have a 9-1 record together at the first doubles court. Zlatarova leads the team with 12 doubles wins total. The team holds a combined 30-13 doubles record and a 51-32 singles record.
Sam Houston holds an even 7-7 overall record this season, following a 4-3 win over George Washington on Saturday. Paula Cerda leads the Bearkats with 10 singles wins and eight doubles wins. Overall, the Bearkats have a 41-30 singles record and 13-20 doubles record.
The Roadrunners will continue their homestand next weekend, hosting New Mexico State on April 5 at 1 p.m. and UTEP on April 6 at 10 a.m. The team will then conclude the regular season at home on April 10 at 12 p.m., facing Lamar for Senior Day.
