UTSA heads to Sunshine State for two away matches

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The UTSA women’s tennis team heads to the Sunshine State for a pair of matches this weekend. The Roadrunners play Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla., at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET on Friday, before facing FIU in Miami at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET on Sunday.

 

The Roadrunners hold a 9-5 record after dropping two road matches last weekend against UT Arlington and Tarleton. Freshman Ekua Youri leads the team with a 9-3 record in singles play. The team holds a combined 24-11 doubles record and a 41-24 singles record. 

 

No. 55 Florida Atlantic has a 11-2 overall record, after a 4-2 loss to Yale on Thursday. Before the loss, the Owls were on an 11-match winning streak. Panna Bartha holds a 11-0 singles record at the top spot, while also leading the team with an 8-3 doubles record.

 

No. 28 FIU holds a 10-2 record, following a 7-0 win over Boston University on March 13. The Panthers face East Tennessee State on Friday at noon. Ekaterina Khairutdinova and Katerina Mandelikova each lead the team with eight singles victories. Mandelikova also leads the Panthers with a 7-2 record in doubles action, five of those with Oyinlomo Quadre at the first court.

 

After 45 days on the road, the Roadrunners return home to host a doubleheader against Prairie View on March 23, starting at 10 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Courts.
