WICHITA, Kan. – The UTSA men’s tennis team (4-5) notched one back in the win column after defeating host Wichita State (2-6) on Sunday at Genesis Round Rock, riding the doubles point victory to an overall 4-2 match win.
For the second match this weekend, UTSA opened with a strong doubles victory in Wichita. Also for the second consecutive match, Jackson Ross and Garrett Skelly notched the first win, defeating Vanja Hodzic and Alejandro Jacome on court two, 6-2. On the top flight, Alan Magadan and Tomás Pinho clinched the point with a 6-3 win over Richey King and Misha Kvantaliani.
However, Hodzic and Kvantaliani got their payback, going back-to-back on earning Wichita State singles wins and claiming a brief lead. However, Skelly finished off the 7-5, 6-0 triumph over Richey King on court No. 6 to even the score at 2-all. Miguel Alonso remained perfect on the early season, topping Luke Bracks on court five to earn his sixth win. Closing things out on court four, Danijal Muminovic secured the match point for UTSA, besting Marcelo Sepulveda on a 6-1, 7-5 final.
