UTSA unveils early signing class on Wednesday

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head football coach Jeff Traylor announced that the program has inked 10 student-athletes on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

The 10 new Roadrunners are offensive lineman A’marion Breland (Hattiesburg, Miss./Hattiesburg HS), punter Breck Chambers (Crawford, Texas/Blinn JC), quarterback Max Gerlich (Austin, Texas/Anderson HS), linebacker Aden Hall (Leesburg, Fla./The First Academy), long snapper Nick Hemer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hutchinson CC), wide receiver Kingston Jones (New Orleans, La./John F. Kennedy HS), money backer Mark Rayson III (Dallas, Texas/First Baptist Academy), Armoni Rue (Lakeland, Fla./Highland CC), tight end Ty Rupe (Spring, Texas/Grand Oaks HS) and defensive lineman Corey Walls (Rowlett, Texas/Sachse HS).

Half of the signees hail from the state of Texas with two each from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and Central Texas and one coming from the Greater Houston Area. Two are natives of Florida and one apiece attended high school in Louisiana, Mississippi and Pennsylvania.

Four of the newcomers are projected to play on the offensive side of the ball, four are pegged for the defense and two are specialists.

Of the 10 signees, seven are coming directly from the high school ranks and three are junior college transfers.
