UTSA set for Battle of I-35 in San Marcos

The Roadrunners and Bobcats will square off at noon on Saturday

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team will wrap up their nonconference slate on Saturday as they take on Texas State in a road Battle of I-35 at noon inside Strahan Arena. The 'Runners will eye history, as a win would propel them to the program's best-ever record entering conference play.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman (play-by-play), Suzanne Fox (analyst) and Victoria Heim (reporter) on the call. Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.

The Roadrunners (8-2, 0-0 The American) are coming off a 76-61 victory over UT Arlington on Thursday, with the win allowing them to wrap up nonconference play undefeated in the Convocation Center for the first time since the 1992-93 season. Additionally, UTSA has won eight of their first 10 games, which hasn't been accomplished since 1997-98.

Junior Sidney Love led the way for the 'Runners, dropping 21 points, while redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins charted 14 with five rebounds, two blocks, and a steal. Sophomore Idara Udo joined the pair in the double-digit scoring club with 10, and graduate student Nina De Leon Negron racked up seven points, eight assists and six rebounds.

The Bobcats (6-3, 0-0 Sun Belt) are riding a four-game winning streak with strong performances over UTRGV, Tarleton State and UNT Dallas ahead of a 63-60 road win against Denver.

Texas State comes into the contest ranked 24th nationally with 30.4 bench points per game, and they also excel at the free-throw line with 20.8 attempts each time out, placing them 39th.

Jaylin Foster tops the team with 10.5 PPG at a 47.5% clip, and she also leads in rebounds at 7.9 RPG and steals, swiping 2.1 SPG.
