IRVING, Texas— Senior outfielder Mason Lytle was awarded American Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year and named to the preseason all-conference team, The American announced Wednesday, December 18. Voted by coaches of the AAC, UTSA was picked fourth in the preseason poll.
The first Roadrunner chosen as AAC Preseason Player of the Year, Lytle is coming off a successful season, where he posted a .346 batting average and a team-leading 43 RBIs on his way to being named first-team all-conference. Lytle was one of four players unanimously selected to this year’s Preseason All-Conference Team.
The Roadrunners finished second with a 17-10 record in the American Athletic Conference in 2024 in their debut campaign in the league. UTSA was 32-24 overall, the third consecutive season with 30-or-more wins under head coach Pat Hallmark.
