IRVING, Texas — UTSA senior outside linebacker Jimmori Robinson has been named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his record-setting performance in the 51-27 victory over Temple last Friday night at the Alamodome, the league office announced Monday.
Robinson picked up his first career weekly award after registering a school-record 5.5 tackles for loss, including a program-record-tying four sacks in the win over the Owls that secured bowl eligibility for the Roadrunners for the fifth year in a row. He totaled seven stops and added three quarterback hurries to help UTSA limit the Owls to 289 yards, including only 70 rushing.
Robinson's 5.5 TFLs are the most by an FBS player in a game this season, while his four sacks are tied with seven other players for the top performance in the nation this fall. The Alexandria, Virginia, native now has 15.5 TFLs this season, good for fifth on UTSA's single-season list and currently sixth in the FBS in 2024. His 9.5 sacks rank him third in school history and place him eighth nationally this fall.
Robinson earned honorable mention player of the week recognition on Sept. 23 after posting seven tackles, two TFLs, a sack, one forced fumble and recovery and a blocked field goal in the 45-7 victory against Houston Christian.
Robert Henry Jr. landed on the AAC honorable mention player of the week list after rushing for 178 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries against Temple. He ripped off a 40-yard touchdown on UTSA’s opening possession and later had an 88-yard dash — the second-longest rush in program history — that helped set up his second score of the night.
This marks the third time this season that a Roadrunner has collected the league’s player of the week award, as Martavius French was named AAC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 4 and Tate Sandell collected the special teams honor on Nov. 18. Additionally, Owen McCown has received honorable mention five times in 2024.
Charlotte wide receiver O’Mega Blake won the AAC Offensive Player of the Week award and Charlotte kicker Stephen Rusnak claimed the special teams honor after the 49ers victory over Florida Atlantic last Saturday.
The Roadrunners will close out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 30, when they travel to West Point, New York to face No. 22 Army. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT at Michie Stadium and the game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
