SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced on Friday the addition for 2025-26 of another national champion to UTSA’s multi-events crew, announcing the signing of Anna Gabriela Hofmane out of Latvia.
“We’re excited add another European national champion and rising star to our multi-events group.” Fox said. “We can’t wait to work with her toward taking the next step on the track and help her to reach her academic goals.”
Originally coming out of Iecava, Latvia, Hofmane has ranked as high as 23rd in the world U18 performances in the heptathlon and is a multi-events champion back home. Most recently winning the long jump at the Latvian U18 Championships in Ogre, Latvia in June 2023 on a career-best measurement of 5.88m (19-3.5 ft.), she also won the heptathlon at the Latvian U18 Combined Events Championships in June 2023 Valmiera on a combined score of 5,251 points – bolstered by event victories in the long jump (5.62m/18-5.25 ft.) and high jump (1.70m/5-6.75 ft.).
In addition, she competed in this year’s Latvian U20 Championships with a second-place 100m hurdles finish, placed third in the long jump at the 2023 Baltic U18 Team Championships with a measurement of 5.84m (19-2 ft.) and finished fifth in the long jump at the (2023) 17th European Youth Olympic Festival in Maribor, Slovenia, while also collecting 5,274 heptathlon points to finish seventh overall.
Hofmane holds career bests of 1.70m high jump (2023), long jump 5.88m (2023), 200m at 25.93 (2022), 800m in 2:27.15 (2023), 100m hurdles at 13.92 (2022), shot put with 13.84m (45-5 ft.) in 2023 and javelin on a measurement of 30.41m (99-9 ft.) in 2023. Her top heptathlon score was at the 2023 European Youth Olympic Festival. She also has a 60m hurdles top time of 8.84 seconds.
