INDIANAPOLIS/IRVING, Texas – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association officially released the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Week on Monday, with redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins representing UTSA women’s basketball on the list. Additionally, the Renton, Washington native was also named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
Jenkins was dominant, posting double-doubles in a pair of victories over previously undefeated teams, with 28.5 PPG at a 70.4% clip and 11.5 RPG. She first went 9-for-14 from the field and 8-for-8 from the charity stripe for 27 points in a 75-61 win over New Mexico State, ahead of a 30-point, 10-for-13 day across a 78-73 victory against UTEP that featured a 10-for-12 mark from the free-throw line and 12 rebounds in just 25 minutes.
She represents the first squad member to receive the honor in the award's history, which dates back to 2009. Along with Jenkins, Paige Bueckers (UConn), Haley Cavinder (Miami), Harmoni Turner (Harvard) and Talaysia Cooper (Tennesee) were named Players of the Week.
At the conference level, Jenkins has now won seven Player of the Week awards (4x CUSA, 1x Pac-12, 2x AAC), as she last was chosen by The American on Feb. 9, 2024, after charting 11 points with seven rebounds against Tulsa and scoring 29 points with four boards against North Texas.
