TAMPA, Fla. — UTSA cornerback Zah Frazier has been named the East-West Shrine Bowl "Texas Star of the Week" following his performance in the 48-27 victory over North Texas last Friday night.
Frazier picked off two passes for the second time this season to help lead the Roadrunners improve to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the American Athletic Conference with their fourth straight win against the Mean Green. He also made four solo tackles, including one for a loss, and broke up three passes. He grabbed his first interception of the evening in the first quarter to help set up the Roadrunners' second touchdown of the game. In the fourth quarter, he leaped high on a long pass attempt for his second INT of the night, as UTSA outscored UNT, 18-7, in the final stanza.
A native of Cedartown, Georgia, Frazier also registered two interceptions earlier this season against East Carolina, which tied the program record. He is one of only two FBS players to have two INTs in multiple games this year and he is the first player in UTSA history to achieve that feat.
For the season, Frazier has four picks and his 0.4 interceptions-per-game average leads the league and ranks seventh nationally. He also has eight pass breakups in 2024 to put his 1.3 passes-defended-per-game average at the top of The American and seventh in the FBS.
The East-West Shrine Bowl honors a “Texas Star of the Week” to an all-star game eligible player from a Texas university that displayed the most NFL traits that week.
The Roadrunners will close out the regular season home slate with Senior Day against Temple (3-7, 2-4 AAC) on Friday, Nov 22. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Alamodome and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Fans can purchase tickets online or by calling the UTSA Ticket Office at 210-458-UTSA (8872) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding holidays.
