UTSA cross country to compete in NCAA South Central Region

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The UTSA Men’s and women’s cross country teams head to College Station, Texas for the NCAA South Central Region Championships this Friday, Nov. 15. The Races will be run at the Watts Cross Country Course.

The meet will open with the women’s 6K race at 9 a.m. followed by the men’s 10K race at 10 a.m. Results will be posted online on Flash Results.

Hosted by Texas A&M, the Roadrunners will run against 33 other teams, including Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, LSU, North Texas, Rice, TCU, Texas and Tulane.

On the men’s team, AJ Tyler (24:37.7) and OJ Ruiz (24:53.2) hold two of the best times for the Roadrunners, setting those marks previously in College Station during the Arturo Barrios Invitational on October 18. That event was an 8K and the men’s team will be running a 10K at the NCAA South Central Region Championships. Tyler and Ruiz will be joined in competition by Victor Charo, Dominick Landin, Diego Ramirez, Idol Ramon, Cortlin Salge and Gabe Tubbs.

On the Women’s side, Jadelyn Malesich (22:47.7) and Chante Dixon (22:52.4) hold the two best times for the Roadrunners at Watts Cross Country Course, also set at this year’s Arturo Berrios Invitational. Malesich and Dixon will be joined in competition by Sidney Bravo, Jadyn Gonzales, Savannah Lopez, Lisa Pelletier, Itzel Rojo, Brooke Veltman and Emma Wallace.

The first four finishers who do not belong to an automatic qualifier team or an at-large team will automatically advance to the NCAA Cross Country Championships, held Nov. 23 in Madison, Wisc.
