This will mark UTSA’s third straight appearance in The Clerico. Last year, Hunter Bott earned runner-up honors with an 8-under-par 202 (68-69-65) to help lead the Roadrunners to fourth place in a 12-team field. In 2022, UTSA finished sixth behind top-25 showings from Bott and Christian Fanfelle.
The Roadrunners are coming off a seventh-place finish at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational last week in Mississippi. Dulany tied for 23rd with a 2-over-par 218 (74-74-70) and Zurn was one shot back in a tie for 27th (77-69-73—219) to help UTSA to an 880 (300-292-288), one shot ahead of No. 48 Purdue and five in front of Wisconsin. UTSA also finished ahead of 10th-place and 36th-ranked Kansas (886), Iowa (887), Southern Miss (890) and No. 32 UNLV (899).
Dulany paces UTSA with a 73.33 stroke average in nine rounds. The sophomore transfer owns a trio of par-or-better scorecards this fall, including a season-best 70 in his last outing at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational that helped propel him to his top finish of the fall.
Vargas boasts the second-best scoring mark on the squad with a 74.56. The junior transfer has broken par twice through nine rounds, highlighted by a season-low 69 over the opening 18 holes of the Trinity Forest Invitational.
Bare owns a 75.17 average through six rounds this fall. The redshirt sophomore out of Waco logged his best score of the season with a 1-under 71 in the opening round of the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational.
Zurn is averaging 75.25 strokes per round and he has matched Vargas with the team’s low score of the campaign, a 3-under 69 in the second round of the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational.
Franklin is just behind Zurn with a 75.44 scoring mark. The senior from Colorado boasts a pair of par-or-better scores, led by a 1-under 71 in the second round of the Valero Texas Collegiate.
