Bisgrove, Ellison guide Roadrunners top fifth place at Dale McNamara Invitational

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Sydney Bisgrove and Morgan Ellison finished in the top 25 to guide the UTSA women’s golf team to fifth place at the Dale McNamara Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Cedar Ridge Country Club (par 71/6,366 yards).

Bisgrove and Ellison grabbed a share of 25th with a 12-over-par 225 to help the Roadrunners tie with Boise State for fifth in the 16-team field. UTSA posted a 906 (306-293-307) to end up only five strokes behind BYU and 11 back of third-place Oklahoma, while finishing ahead of American Athletic Conference opponents Tulsa (11th/926), Tulane (14th/933) and South Florida (15th/938). It marked the Roadrunners’ third top-five team showing of the fall campaign and the 32nd for eighth-year head coach Summer Batiste.

Bisgrove paced UTSA in the final round of the two-day tournament, firing a 75 that featured birdies on the 158-yard, par-3 sixth and 404-yard, par-4 eighth. The freshman from Calgary, Alberta, opened with a 76-74—150 on Monday and ended up with five birdies for the week.

Ellison started the event with a 75 before turning in a 73 on Monday afternoon. The senior from Peachtree City, Georgia, then closed with a 77 today that was headlined by a three on the 387-yard, par-4 ninth. She played the par threes at even par and matched Bisgrove with five birdies for the week.

Olivia Williams tied for 30th with a 228. The junior from England had a 72 in the second round that was sandwiched by a pair of 78s, finishing the tournament with four total birdies.

Daniela Abonce logged a team-high 38 pars en route to tying for 34th with a 229. The junior from Mexico opened with a 77 and a 74 on Monday before rounding out her week with a 78 that included a birdie on the 374-yard, par-4 fourth hole.

Maria Bastarrica led the lineup with six birdies, including two during her final-round 77. The sophomore from Spain ended up in a tie for 69th with a 241 (90-74-77).

Arkansas captured the team title with a 6-over 858 behind individual medalist Reagan Zibilski (73-63-72—208), while Oklahoma State claimed runner-up honors (879).

The Roadrunners will wrap up the fall slate on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 20-21, when they travel to San Marcos for the Jim West Challenge at Kissing Tree Golf Club.
