UTSA Athletics announces final 2023-24 Rowdys recipients

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA Athletics on Friday announced six award recipients, officially wrapping up the 2023-24 Rowdys, the department’s annual celebration of athletic and academic success.

The majority of the annual award recipients were unveiled at The Rowdys in May at SeaWorld San Antonio. However, six categories were voted on this summer following completion of all sports seasons.

Track & field All-American Ida Breigan swept the Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year and Female Newcomer of the Year awards.

Mason Lytle an outfielder with the baseball team, collected both the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year and Male Newcomer of the Year honors.

The UTSA women’s basketball team was chosen as Team of the Year and head coach Karen Aston was voted Coach of the Year.

The men’s track & field 4x400-meter relay squad of Martín Kouyoumdjian, Noah Rhodes, Nabil Tezkratt, and Mike Roth ran the second-fastest time in UTSA history coming from behind to win the 96th Texas Relays at the finish line.
