SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced on Friday, August 23, that the Roadrunners have again bolstered their hurdle and sprint corps with the addition of French Champion Hugo Menin for the 2024-25 season.
"We are excited to bring another world-class competitor to the squad in Hugo Menin, who already has a solid foundation of performing on the international stage.” Fox said. “We’re excited to build on what he’s already accomplished in DI competition and help him reach his goals both on the track and in the classroom.”
Hailing from Cysoing, France, Menin ran his freshman season at Tarleton State, collecting the silver medal at the 2024 Western Athletic Conference Championships on a career-best 49.99 in the 400-meter hurdles. During the indoor season with Tarleton, Menin focused on sprints, recording a 48.00 in the 400-meter and 21.80 in the 200-meter, while helping the Texans’ 4x400-meter relay in both 2024 seasons. Ranking as high as 132nd in the world and 52nd in Europe in the 400m hurdles, Menin won the 2023 French U23 Championships in the 400m hurdles, going on to place fourth this July at the French Championships. In 2022, Menin defeated the 400m hurdles field at the Mediterranean Athletics U23 Championships in Italy.
