Muminovic, Skelly ITA Scholar-Athletes UTSA named All-Academic Team

TEMPE, Ariz. – For the sixth consecutive season, UTSA men's tennis has a student-athlete receiving national academic honors, as Danijal Muminovic repeats for the third straight year as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete alongside first-time honoree Garrett Skelly. In addition to the pair’s individual honors, the Roadrunners squad also garnered All-Academic Team honors for the second consecutive season and third time in the past five years.

To be eligible for ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes had to have a 3.5+ GPA for the academic year and the pair are recognized among the 1,059 standout academic performers across Division I during the 2024 season.

Muminovic (Jr./Tuzla, Bosnia) first started his run as an ITA Scholar-Athlete in his rookie 2021-22 season, now collecting his third consecutive honor. Muminovic recorded a 4.0 GPA for the academic year within his major in Business Analytics and a minor in Management Science. Muminovic is fresh off a repeat appearance on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District list for the second straight year. He was previously just the third UTSA member of the Conference USA All-Academic Team in 2023 – earning a spot on the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team in 2024. Perpetually on the UTSA President's List and Dean's List throughout his time with the Roadrunners, Muminovic was steady for UTSA in 2024, playing all 20 matches while garnering a 9-5 record on four and 9-8 mark overall.

Skelly (Sr./The Woodlands, Texas) collects his first ITA Scholar-Athlete laurels after tallying a 3.87 GPA toward his major in Management Science and was just named to The American’s All-Academic team. Skelly was 3-4 in singles but was a dominant force for the Roadrunners’ doubles alongside classmate and partner Jackson Ross – the pair racking up a team-high 11-3 record together. In the fall, Skelly also reached the doubles semifinal at the fall 2023 ITA South Region Championships in Fort Worth.

As a team, the Roadrunners earned their second consecutive honor and third in the past five years, picking up ITA All-Academic Team accolades among 176 teams receiving the distinction. UTSA finished the year with a team GPA of 3.27.
