LEXINGTON, Ky. – On Wednesday, the American Volleyball Coaches Association released its 2024 Team Academic Award winners, with UTSA receiving recognition after a stellar academic year.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
This marks the 10th time the Roadrunners have received the accolade and the first occasion since the 2021 campaign. UTSA turned in a 3.49 cumulative GPA, with Makenna Wiepert, Peyton Turner, and Mia Soerensen leading the way, all posting a 4.0. Additionally, the ‘Runners were one of nine members of the American Athletic Conference to be honored by the AVCA.
