Adams inks with League One Volleyball’s Atlanta Club

The UTSA Athletics Hall of Famer will be playing stateside for the first time in 10 years

ATLANTA — For the first time in over 10 years, UTSA Athletics Hall of Famer McKenzie Adams will be playing stateside as League One Volleyball’s (LOVB) Atlanta-based club officially announced that she’d be joining the squad after she initially signed with the league back in March.

LOVB is a recently launched professional league that begins its inaugural season in January of 2025. The organization features six teams based out of Atlanta, Georgia; Austin, Texas; Houston, Texas; Madison, Wisconsin; Omaha, Nebraska; and Salt Lake City, Utah. LOVB currently operates 47 youth volleyball clubs over 22 states and has recently set forth to develop volleyball into the next major American sports league. Additionally, fans will be able to watch Adams compete on ESPN and ESPN+, as the league has signed a multiyear media rights agreement with the company.

An inaugural UTSA Hall of Fame class member, Adams was one of the ‘Runners best, picking up two AVCA All-American awards and two conference players of the year honors between the 2011-13 volleyball seasons. She transferred to UTSA from Virginia after a stellar freshman campaign and quickly made an impact, claiming 2011 Southland Newcomer of the Year honors. Adding to her trophy case, she picked up the 2012 WAC Player of the Year and 2013 Conference-USA Player of the Year awards, earning first-team all-conference across all three leagues. Adams was a 2013 American Volleyball Coaches Association third-team All-American, becoming the first in program history after receiving an honorable mention the year prior.

She remains a school record holder in several categories, including kills (653), attacks (1,575), and solo blocks (32) across a single season. A two-sport athlete for the Roadrunners, Adams also played basketball in the 2013-14 campaign, appearing in 16 games with 14 starts and scoring 6.2 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 24 blocks, and 14 steals.

Professionally, Adams has been a standout for various clubs over the past 10 seasons, showcasing her talent on the global stage. From Indias de Mayagüez in Puerto Rico (2014-15) to Ladies in Black Aachen in Germany (2016-18), SSC Palmberg Schwerin in Germany (2018-20), A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano in Italy (2020-21), Eczacıbaşı Dynavit in Turkey (2021-22), Igor Gorgonzola Novara in Italy (2022-23), Hisamitsu Springs in Japan (2023-24), and Cangrejeras de Santurce in Puerto Rico (2023-24), she’s left her mark. Her international experience includes over 20 competition wins, and she was named MVP of the German Supercup with SSC Palmberg Schwerin in the 2019-20 season.
