SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos announced Friday the promotion of Ashley Poronsky to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development/Strategy.
Poronsky oversees the Roadrunner Athletic Fund, UTSA’s athletics development unit, which includes scholarship support for UTSA’s nearly 400 student-athletes, and her responsibilities include philanthropy, capital projects fundraising, donor relations, and the UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame.
“I am delighted to announce the promotion of Ashley Poronsky,” Campos said. “Ashley has been a difference-maker for UTSA Athletics since first joining our team in 2019. She has raised critical funds that have been central to the care of our student-athletes and to bringing our ambitious facilities plan to life. Ashley is widely respected by everyone in the UTSA Athletics community, including our donors, coaches, staff and student-athletes. She has a tremendous vision for supporting the future of UTSA Athletics that will help us continue our growth as a department and a university. I am excited to work with her in her new role as Senior Associate AD for Development/Strategy.”
Poronsky, who was recently named to the 2024 40 Under 40 Class from the San Antonio Business Journal, is in her second stint with UTSA Athletics. She has served as Associate Athletics Director for Development since April 2022, where she has worked directly with the $70 million Bold Champions capital campaign, the Roadrunner Athletic Fund and donor relations. Poronsky also was instrumental in the creation of the UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame in October 2023.
“I am grateful to Dr. Campos and [UTSA Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement] Karl Miller Lugo for the opportunity to make a greater impact on the lives of our student-athletes,” Poronsky said. “UTSA Athletics is on an inspiring trajectory and I am eager to come to work every day to support the innovative and impactful projects we are working on together as a community.”
Prior to returning to UTSA, Poronsky was the Deputy Athletics Director at the University of Incarnate Word. In that role, she oversaw all areas of external relations, including ticketing, fundraising, sponsorships, media relations and marketing. Poronsky was responsible for revenue records for the Cardinals Club, corporate sponsorships and tickets. She also was the sport administrator for men’s tennis, women’s tennis, cheer and dance.
Poronsky initially joined UTSA as Director of the Roadrunner Athletic Fund before being promoted to Assistant AD for Development in January 2020. She was heavily involved in implementing significant changes to donor seating and gameday experience plans that arose due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before joining UTSA, Poronsky spent five years with University of Texas Athletics, first as the director of events and stewardship before being promoted to director of development campaigns and communications.
Poronsky also has experience in the athletics departments at Ole Miss, Southeastern Louisiana and LSU.
Poronsky holds both a bachelor of arts in political science and a master of science in sports management from Louisiana State University.
