SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA volleyball team is set to embark on a European Tour with five matches on the docket across Hungary, Slovenia and Italy, spanning Monday, May 27 through Thursday, June 6.
“We're excited for the opportunity to continue to train and take a trip of this caliber,” said coach Carol Price-Torok ahead of the tour. “Our players will gain international volleyball experience as well as continue to increase team dynamics through enriching cultural experiences.”
The Roadrunners will arrive in Budapest, Hungary, on May 27 before sightseeing and an afternoon contest on day two against the Hungarian Senior National Team.
The squad will then spend day three traveling to Maribor, Slovenia, where a pair of contests await. On day four, the team will visit Pohorje Mountain for lunch before facing the U18 Slovenian National Team. Subsequently, the 'Runners will battle the U20 National Team after a team bike ride into the center of the city on day five.
UTSA will kick off the month of June with a journey to Venice, Italy. On day seven, they will indulge in trips to the Florence City Center, the Duomo, Piazza Michelangelo, the Pitti Palace and Accademia to witness the iconic statue of David. The following afternoon, the Roadrunners will face a team to be revealed later, and on day nine, they will head to Rome to explore the Pantheon, Sistine Chapel and Vatican City. The squad will conclude their competition on June 5, with a match against professional club Volleyro Roma behind a visit to the Colosseum.
On day 10, the 'Runners will return to San Antonio, concluding the enriching cultural experience.
