Bott collects All-American Athletic Conference honors

IRVING, Texas — UTSA senior Hunter Bott has been named to the All-American Athletic Conference Team, as the league office on Wednesday unveiled its men’s golf postseason awards.

Bott’s selection this year is the second of his career and the 43rd in program history. Last year, Bott and Christian Fanfelle earned third-team All-Conference USA accolades in head coach Matt Wernecke’s first season at the helm.

Bott paces the Roadrunners with a 71.91 stroke average through 32 rounds this season. A native of Montgomery, Texas, he owns four top-10 finishes and has placed inside the top 25 in nine tournaments.

Bott earned a runner-up finish at The Clerico last October with an 8-under-par 202 (68-68-66). He forced a sudden death playoff at that tournament with birdies on his final two holes to tie for first place at the end of regulation before eventually settling for second on the fourth hole. He tied for ninth place with a 3-over 219 (74-67-78) at The Carolina Cup in the fall and he carded a 1-over 211 (71-69-71) to grab a share of seventh at the Sea Best Invitational to start the spring season. Earlier this year, Bott recorded a 5-under 67-72—139 to finish 23rd at the weather-shortened Dorado Beach Collegiate in Puerto Rico and he was seventh at The Aggie Invitational after posting a 220 (69-76-75).
