Get to know UTSA men's golfer Hunter Bott in this Q&A.
Q: Why did you choose UTSA?
Hunter Bott: "I chose UTSA because of the practice facilities that we get to access at TPC San Antonio, and the team atmosphere makes it a great place to be able to grow and develop my game."
Q: What do you like most about being a student-athlete at UTSA?
Hunter Bott: "I enjoy traveling with the team and going to places that I have never been to before."
Q: How did you first get involved in playing your sport?
Hunter Bott: "I joined my junior high golf team for fun because they didn't have a baseball team. My dad was a good golfer, so I would just go out with him and play some golf. I was a baseball player and that was my passion. Next thing I know, freshman year of high school, I got my first golf lesson and made the varsity team. I enjoyed it so much that I quit baseball and became a golfer."
Q: What are you majoring in and what do you hope to do following your athletic career?
Hunter Bott: "I am majoring in business management. I hope to become a successful professional golfer after I graduate in May."
Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?
Hunter Bott: "I have had too many to put into a list. One that comes to mind outside of my family is my swing coach. He has taught me more than just the golf swing. Probably more important, he has taught me to work harder than anyone and the results will show."
Q: Who is your sports role model?
Hunter Bott: "I would say my role model is Scottie Scheffler because he doesn't allow success to make him lazy or content with his career. In other words, he works hard to keep winning and being the best golfer in the world."
