Carreon collects AAC weekly award

IRVING, Texas — UTSA senior Camryn Carreon has been named American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for her performance in the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate earlier this week in Jacksonville, Florida.

Carreon tied for fourth place with a 7-under-par 209 to help lead the Roadrunners to a runner-up team finish with an 11-under 853, the fourth-best 54-hole total in program history and their fourth top-five showing of the 2023-24 season. The senior from San Antonio opened with back-to-back 3-under 69s and then logged a 71 in the final round. She wrote down a team-high 11 birdies and played the par fives at 5-under for the week while notching her 18th career top-10 finish.

The 2023 NCAA San Antonio Regional champion now has posted 18 par-or-better scorecards — including 14 sub-70 scores — in 24 rounds during her final campaign. Her 209 marked the sixth time in eight events that the all-conference performer has completed a tournament under par in 2023-24.

This marks Carreon’s third career conference golfer of the week honor and her first from The American.

The Roadrunners will return to action on March 30-31 when they compete in The Bruzzy in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
