IRVING, Texas – Senior Caleb Hill of the UTSA baseball team earned the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor this week, announced the conference on Monday afternoon.
This is Hill’s second conference weekly accolade and first in the AAC. The Grandview, Texas, native was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week last season on March 20, 2023.
The Temple Junior College product led the Roadrunners to a 3-1 record last week, including a series win over Grand Canyon at home on March 1-3. In three starts, Hill picked up seven hits, six runs, six RBI and a couple of home runs. On Feb. 27 against Houston, Hill hit two home runs and a single that scored four RBI combined to help the Roadrunners rally back from a 7-2 deficit and win the game 8-7.
In the series opener against GCU on March 1, Hill went 2-for-4 with a run, RBI and double. In the series finale on March 3, he went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. He was the tying run in the bottom of the second in a game where it was tied three times. He later scored a run that put UTSA up by two runs, later leading the Roadrunners to a 10-9 win.
The left fielder is in the top five of the conference in multiple stat categories, including fourth in slugging percentage (.800), fifth in on-base percentage (.520), tied for second in runs (16), tied for third in home runs (4) and tied for third in total bases (32).
The Roadrunners host Tarleton State on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Roadrunner Field.
