SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA softball team is set to host Memphis in a three-game American Athletic Conference series at Roadrunner Field, with festivities beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m. The squads will then meet Friday with a 6 p.m. first pitch on Girl Scout Night ahead of a Saturday Military Appreciation game at noon.
Across all three games, fans can receive a free program and 2024 schedule poster upon entry, while Saturday's contest will feature a limited edition UTSA softball card giveaway. Additionally, as a part of a special ticket package for $18, fans can click here to purchase a ticket to Saturday's game and receive an exclusive UTSA-themed camo shirt along with admission to Roadrunner Field.
The series will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with Neal Raphael providing play-by-play alongside Cat Osterman.
The Roadrunners (9-25, 1-8 The American) suffered a narrow 4-2 loss to Lamar last time out and will attempt to halt a four-game skid against the Tigers.
Despite the result, UTSA saw stellar performances from sophomore Madi Hays, who had a 2-for-3 afternoon with a solo home run, and senior Jamie Gilbert, who didn't allow any earned runs with four strikeouts over four innings. Senior Taylor Jensen, freshman Taryn Madlock, and sophomore Caton Letbetter all joined Hays in recording hits for the squad.
Jensen ranks 27th nationally, with eight runners caught stealing during the year, a figure that tops The American. Sophomore Sophie Campbell also leads the league with three sacrifice flies, and Gilbert is fifth in both innings pitched and strikeouts, fanning 69 over 83.0 innings. Also performing well in the circle, freshman Iliana Saucedo owns a 7.0 K/7 ratio, and junior Camryn Robillard has starred at the dish, smashing six home runs for the seventh-best in the AAC.
The Tigers (3-25, 0-9 The American) enter the contest looking to snap a 12-game losing streak and earn their first conference win of the 2024 campaign.
McKaylee Polk tops the team with a .292 AVG, and Adrianna Cox-Cole is not far behind at .290. Zoe Adebayo remains a driving force behind the Memphis office, logging 10 RBIs.
The pitching staff owns a 7.04 ERA, and Taniyah Brown leads the way at 5.68. She's earned two of the squad's three wins, with Rylee Dugar also tasting victory and Abigail Morgan boasting the team's lone save.
