HUMBLE, Texas — Hunter Bott Is tied for 11th place and the UTSA men’s golf team is in 17th after the first day of the All-American Intercollegiate, which teed off Monday at the Golf Club of Houston (par 72/7,067 yards).
Bott is part of a six-way tie for 11th at 1-over-par 143 with 18 holes left to play on Tuesday. The senior from Montgomery opened with a 1-under 71 that featured birdies on the 350-yard, par-4 10th and the 575-yard, par-5 13th holes. He followed with a 74 in the afternoon behind two more birdies, as he sits only two shots out of the top five in the 100-player field.
Brock Blais has a share of 47th at 7-over 151. The freshman from Florida posted a birdie on the 195-yard, par-3 16th during a 76 in the morning round before turning in a 75 in round two that included a birdie on the 530-yard, par-5 fourth.
David Harrison (77-78—155) and Bryson Thurston (76-79—155) are part of a tie for 80th and Walker Franklin rounds out the UTSA lineup in 88th (77-79—156).
The Roadrunners are in 17th after registering a 300-306—606, two shots ahead of American Athletic Conference foe Memphis and only one stroke behind Big 12 Conference member Cincinnati. Sam Houston leads the field with a 4-over 580, followed by a tie for second between No. 6 Texas Tech and No. 49 UNLV at 8-over 584.
Christian Rodriguez is playing in the All-American Individual and is 36th (81-81—162) through 36 holes.
The final round is set for Tuesday.
