PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — The UTSA men’s golf team wrapped up competition at The Hayt on Monday, as Hunter Bott finished in the top 20 for the fourth time this season to lead the Roadrunners to 12th place.
Bott tied for 18th with a 3-over-par 219 to help UTSA post a 912 for 14th, one shot behind UCF and only two back of Coastal Carolina in the field that featured seven nationally ranked teams.
A senior from Montgomery, Texas, Bott opened with rounds of 74 and 72 and then closed out his 219 with a 1-over 73 on Monday on the 6,966-yard Sawgrass Country Club. The all-conference performer wrote down 15 pars and a birdie on the 405-yard, par-4 10th hole. He finished the week with a team-high 39 pars, the second-best total among the 84 players.
Playing in his hometown, Brock Blais tied for 54th with a 229. The true freshman out of Ponte Vedra High School opened with a 78 and then bounced back with a 1-under 71 on Sunday before settling for an 80 in the final round.
Walker Franklin carded a 232 to grab a share of 64th place. After opening with a 76-81—157, the junior transfer logged his best round of the week with a 75 that was headlined by a trio of birdies, including back-to-back on Nos. 7-8.
David Harrison finished 71st with a 235, posting an improvement in each round. The senior had an 80-79—159 through 36 holes before turning in a 76 that featured four birdies.
Jack Wehman rounded out the UTSA lineup in 84th. After missing the second round, he bounced back from an 82 with a 77 on Monday that included a pair of birdies.
Top-ranked North Carolina captured the team title with an 861, followed by No. 21 Alabama (865) and No. 13 Virginia (868) in the top three.
Deven Patel of Virginia claimed individual medalist honors with a 3-under 213 (74-68-71).
The Roadrunners will return to the course on March 18-19 at the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.
