SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team has signed a pair of European student-athletes to join the Roadrunners next season, as head coach Sergey Avdeyev announced the addition of Oskar Grzegorzewski and Lorenzo Leti Messina for the 2024-25 season.
“I am very excited for Lorenzo and Oskar to join our program this fall,” Avdeyev said. “Both guys are very talented, and both are fully devoted into their tennis development. I am looking forward to seeing what they will bring to our team.”
Grzegorzewski comes to San Antonio from Warsaw, Poland and MGM Sports High School, where he was a part of multiple Polish Teams Championships and garnered a Polish Doubles title, reaching as high as No. 142 in the ITF Juniors rankings and currently at No. 1929 in singles and No. 1698 in the ATP rankings. He has won 61 percent of all his juniors matches in singles and doubles over the past two years. In his highest ITF ranked win, he earned a win over the 41st-ranked junior.
Leti arrives from Rome, Italy and Liceo Scientifico Primo Levi, reaching as high as 357 in the ITF Junior rankings. His best and current national ranking is 2.4 and has claimed a ranked ITF win over the No. 52 junior in the world. He has three titles in the past year, J60 Antalya Singles, J30 Ismailia Singles and J60 Aarhus Doubles, while reaching the final of J60 Aarhus 2023 and J5 Meknes 2022. He won 34-of-49 ITF junior matches played at a 69 percent victory clip. He was a part of the National High School Championship-winning team and won a doubles match at the National A2 Championship against ATP No. 127 Aljaz Bedene.
