SAN ANTONIO — UTSA softball coach Vann Stuedeman officially announced the 2024 schedule on Friday, with the Roadrunners set to embark on a 56-game regular season, including 16 contests inside the friendly confines of Roadrunner Field. The squad will battle in four tournaments before hosting Abilene Christian in their home opener on Mar. 5.
Stuedeman's squad will open the campaign in San Marcos, Texas, as they take part in the Texas State Invitational with matchups against Texas State, Northwestern State, Southern Illinois, Kennesaw State, and Creighton, all on the docket from Feb. 8-10.
Up next, the 'Runners head to The Space City, with Feb. 16-18, marking the Houston Classic and featuring the likes of Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Massachusetts, and host school Houston.
Then, the team will head to College Station, Texas, for the Texas A&M Invitational, with Southeastern Louisiana, Kansas, St. Thomas (MN), North Dakota State, and Texas A&M set to duel from Feb. 22-25.
Mar. 1-3 represents the final regular-season tournament as UTSA will visit Arlington, Texas, for the Boerner Invitational, which will see the Roadrunners face UIW, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UT Arlington, and Grambling State.
Following the home opener against the Wildcats, the team will visit Birmingham, Alabama, to kick-start its inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference as they battle UAB from Mar. 8-10. Before returning to The Alamo City, they'll meet Georgia State on Mar. 11 in Atlanta, Georgia, and Kennesaw State on Mar. 12, in Marietta, Georgia, in a pair of nonconference bouts.
League play continues with a series from Mar. 15-17 that will see the program battle UNT in what represents the squad's first home AAC matchup since joining the conference.
From there, a Mar. 22-24 series awaits in Wichita, Kansas, against Wichita State, and the 'Runners will head right back, hosting Lamar on Mar. 26 before diving into a home series against Memphis from Mar. 28-30.
On Tuesday, Apr. 2, UTSA will wrap up the home-and-home against Lamar, visiting Beaumont, Texas, ahead of an Apr. 5-7 series against East Carolina in Greenville, North Carolina.
UTSA will then be at home for their next five contests, inviting Big 12 foe Baylor to Roadrunner Field on Apr. 9 and facing Charlotte from Apr. 12-14. The stretch will conclude on Apr. 17 with a Battle of I-35 game against Texas State.
A seven-game road swing follows, with a trip to Boca Raton, Florida, seeing the 'Runners meet Florida Atlantic on Apr. 19-21 before visiting crosstown rivals UIW on Tuesday, Apr. 23. From Apr. 26-28, UTSA will compete in its final road series of the season against Tulsa in the Sooner State.
The Roadrunners return home as they wrap up the 2024 campaign by hosting South Florida on May 3-5.
Roadrunner Field is currently undergoing enhancements for the 2024 season, which include upgraded seating and chair back options. Season tickets will go on sale in mid-January.
