UTSA assistant coach Taryn Torgerson to be inducted into Shocker Sports Hall of Fame

WICHITA, Kan. — UTSA assistant women’s golf coach Taryn Torgerson will be inducted into Wichita State’s Shocker Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 28.

Torgerson played four seasons for the Shockers in 2014-18 and ended her career as one of the program’s all-time greats. A three-time all-conference performer, she was the 2018 American Athletic Conference individual champion after carding a tournament- and course-record 64 in the final round and winning a sudden-death playoff. In 2016, she captured Missouri Valley Conference individual medalist honors to lead Wichita State to a second straight league title and NCAA postseason appearance.

Torgerson also excelled in the classroom, as she was a two-time first-team MVC Scholar-Athlete selection and a two-time WGCA All-American Scholar.

Torgerson still holds school records for low score with a 64 and low 54-hole total with a 211, both registered at the 2018 AAC Championship. She finished her career ranked first in program history in tournament titles (6), career stroke average (75.55), single-season stroke average (73.26) and 54-hole stroke average (226.64).
