Ashley Poronsky named to San Antonio Business Journal 40 Under 40

SAN ANTONIO – Ashley Poronsky, UTSA Associate Athletics Director for Development, has been named to the San Antonio Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award list for 2024.

The 2024 awards event will be held Thursday, March 21 at Morgan’s Wonderland, 5223 David Edwards Drive in San Antonio.

“Since first joining our staff in 2019, Ashley has been a difference-maker for UTSA Athletics,” said Lisa Campos, UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics. “In addition to helping raise critical funds for the RACE building and Park West Fieldhouse, Ashley now helps to lead our Bold Champions campaign, inspired by our move to the American Athletic Conference. I was particularly impressed with the lead she took in planning the UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame, which celebrated its inaugural class in 2023. We are proud of Ashley and congratulate her on this well-deserved honor.”

Poronsky is in her second stint with UTSA Athletics after being hired in April 2022 as Associate AD for Development. She works directly with the $70 million Bold Champions capital campaign, the Roadrunner Athletic Fund and donor relations.

“I am grateful to be selected for this award along with so many remarkable candidates in the San Antonio area,” Poronsky said. “UTSA Athletics is on an incredible trajectory and it is a privilege to come to work every day to serve our student-athletes and generous donors. Investing resources into our community’s next generation of leaders couldn’t be more important. I’m glad to be a part of this mission.”

Prior to returning to UTSA, Poronsky was the Deputy Athletics Director at the University of Incarnate Word. In that role, she oversaw all areas of external relations, including ticketing, fundraising, sponsorships, media relations and marketing. Poronsky was responsible for revenue records for the Cardinals Club, corporate sponsorships and tickets. She also was the sport administrator for men’s tennis, women’s tennis, cheer and dance.

Poronsky initially joined UTSA as Director of the Roadrunner Athletic Fund before being promoted to Assistant AD for Development in January 2020. She was heavily involved in implementing significant changes to donor seating and gameday experience plans that arose due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before joining UTSA, Poronsky spent five years with University of Texas Athletics, first as the director of events and stewardship before being promoted to director of development campaigns and communications.

Poronsky also has experience in the athletics departments at Ole Miss, Southeastern Louisiana and LSU.

Poronsky holds both a bachelor of arts in political science and a master of science in sports management from Louisiana State University.
