Women’s Tennis adds three to 2024-25 squad

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women’s tennis team welcomes three new Roadrunners to the 2024-25 roster, announced head coach Ki Kroll.

 

Aoka Nagasawa 5’4” Nara, Japan Sundai Kofu High School

 

A native of Nara, Japan, Nagasawa will join UTSA in the upcoming school year. In 2022, she won the ITF Junior Championships five times in doubles action. Nagasawa has also earned the doubles title at the Asian Junior Championships (JB1 Osan). She was a singles finalist at 2022 ITF Juniors (J4 Istanbul and J5 Nonthaburi). Nagasawa earned a career-high ITF ranking of 319. She is the daughter of Yukiko and Takeshi Nagasawa.

 

Valeria Sanchez 5’3” Bradenton, FloridaInspiration Academy

 

Sanchez is set to join UTSA in the 2024-25 year from Inspiration Academy in Bradenton, Florida. She has earned over 25 singles wins in ITF Juniors in the past four years. In 2023, Sanchez has won two singles and one doubles ITF tournament. She is a five-star recruit who is currently ranked 73rd in the nation and first in South Carolina. She is the daughter of Miriam and Eric Sanchez.

 

Natalia Castaneda 5’4” Córdoba, Mexico James Madison High School (GA)

 

Castaneda comes to UTSA from James Madison High School in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. She earned a career-high ITF Junior ranking of 332. She is the daughter of Marcela Guerrero and Guillermo Castaneda. Her brother, Guillermo, played tennis at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Rollins College.
