Joshua Cephus to play in Hula Bowl on Saturday in Orlando

SAN ANTONIO — Fresh off an Offensive MVP performance in the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl, former UTSA wide receiver Joshua Cephus is set to play in the Hula Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 13, in Orlando, Florida.

Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. Central time at UCF - FBC Mortgage Stadium. The game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network and it can be streamed online at cbssports.com.

Cephus will suit up for Team Aina in the Hula Bowl, which is billed as the nation's premier college football all-star game with NFL, UFL and CFL teams represented by scouts during Hula Bowl week.

Cephus wrapped up his fifth and final season as a Roadrunner by catching seven passes for 102 yards and a touchdown to help guide UTSA to its first bowl win with a 35-17 victory over Marshall on Dec. 19 in Frisco. His 44-yard catch-and-run down the right sideline midway through the second quarter helped the Roadrunners rally from a 14-0 deficit and knot the score at 14-all.

The Houston native ended the 2023 season with 89 receptions for a school-record 1,151 yards and 10 TDs en route to first-team All-American Athletic Conference accolades. Cephus finished his career as the program’s all-time leader in receptions with 313 and receiving yards with 3,639 to go along with 28 touchdowns.
