Under the direction of two-time conference coach of the year Jeff Traylor, the Roadrunners are coming off an 11-3 campaign that saw them capture their second straight Conference USA Championship and play in a bowl game for the third year in a row. UTSA has been ranked in the top 25 in each of the last two seasons and boasts a combined 23 wins over that span, the fourth-best total among all FBS teams behind only Georgia (29), Michigan (25) and Alabama (24).

The Roadrunners will kick off their 13th season of play and first as a member of the American Athletic Conference on Sept. 2 at Houston. This fall also will mark their fourth campaign under Traylor, who owns a 30-10 record (.750) at UTSA.

UTSA will face Texas State for the home opener on Sept. 9 and then host Army West Point on Friday, Sept. 15 before closing out the nonconference slate on Sept. 23 against Tennessee at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.

Following their lone idle week of the regular season, the Roadrunners will play their inaugural AAC contest on the road against Temple on Oct. 7 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

UTSA's first-ever home AAC game will come on Oct. 14 against UAB before returning to the road to play Florida Atlantic the following Saturday in Boca Raton.

The Roadrunners will host East Carolina on Oct. 28, travel to Denton to face North Texas on Nov. 4, welcome Rice to San Antonio on Nov. 11 and meet USF on Friday, Nov. 17, for the regular season home finale.

UTSA's road game against defending conference champion Tulane is part of The American's Black Friday selection scenarios. Two games will be chosen by Oct. 9 to be moved from Saturday, Nov. 25, to Black Friday (Nov. 24) among UTSA-Tulane, Tulsa-East Carolina, Memphis-Temple and UAB-North Texas.

The American Athletic Conference Football Championship is scheduled for Dec. 2 and will be televised either on ABC or ESPN.

Kickoff times and television designations for the first three weeks of the season, as well as the season-long weeknight games, will be finalized by June 1. The rest of the schedule will fall under the customary 12-day and six-day selection processes.
