SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA baseball team was picked to finish third in the American Athletic Conference for the upcoming 2024 season, while junior Matt King was named to the preseason all-conference team, announced the league office on Thursday afternoon.

Coming off a successful final season in the Conference USA, the Roadrunners were picked to finish third in their first season in the American Athletic Conference. The defending AAC regular season champion East Carolina was picked first with nine first-place votes. Fellow AAC newcomer and 2023 C-USA tournament champion Charlotte have been picked second. UTSA is followed by Florida Atlantic in fourth and South Florida in fifth with one first-place vote. Memphis, Wichita State, Rice, Tulane and UAB were picked for the sixth-10th spots, respectively.

Matt King recorded great numbers as a sophomore in the 2023 season. Amongst returning players, he led the team in OPS (.918), hits (69), RBI (58) and total bases (110). Playing in all 57 games last season, King also collected 45 runs, 11 doubles, six triples, six home runs and a .411 on-base percentage.

The Roadrunners are set to open the 2024 campaign at home, hosting UT Arlington in a four-game series on Feb. 16-18.
