UTSA track announces addition of Vivienne Morgenstern

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox has announced the signing of two-time German Youth National Champion Vivienne Morgenstern to join the Roadrunners for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

"Vivienne Morgenstern is an outstanding athlete hailing from Germany and we’re very excited for her to join the team,” Fox said. “She comes to UTSA with the ability to run both the short and long hurdles at an extremely high level. She has huge upside in these events and we look forward to seeing her develop in the hurdles, and in the classroom."

A seasoned sprinter and hurdler on the international scene, Morgenstern comes out of Dresden, Germany, she has ranked as high as 156th in the world after earning a 400m hurdles time of 58.26 this summer while winning the German U23 Championships in Göttingen. Morgenstern also previously claimed gold at the German U20 National Championships in 2022 and was a semifinalist in the event at the U20 World Championships in Cali Columbia as part of the German National Team. Although her career has focused on the longer races, she’s also got a huge upside in the short hurdles, registering an 8.80 time in the 60m hurdles.

On the sprints side, Morgenstern finished third at the 2022 German U20 Indoors in the 400m and comes to San Antonio with a top time of 54.91 from that competition. She’s also continuously sliced seconds off her 200m to head to college with a 24.78-second baseline from German Indoors.
