Tip times, TV assignments announced for UTSA men’s basketball

SAN ANTONIO – With the 2023-24 UTSA men’s basketball season just over a month away, officials from the American Athletic Conference announced on Wednesday its conference-wide television network schedule as well as tip times. Additionally, UTSA has announced tip times for the Roadrunners’ non-conference slate. UTSA is scheduled for four nationally televised AAC games on ESPNU, while at least 24 additional UTSA games will be streamed live on ESPN+ and a pair on other national streaming services.

Following a duo of exhibition games in late August, the Roadrunners’ season tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6 at the Convocation Center against Western Illinois with the broadcast set for on ESPN+.

The American Athletic Conference opener at the Convocation Center against UAB at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2 will be carried live nationally on ESPNU. As will the Roadrunners’ next home contest, hosting Charlotte (Saturday, Jan. 13, 2 p.m.) at the Convo. ESPNU is also set for the East Carolina (Saturday, Feb. 10, 2 p.m.) game in San Antonio. The Roadrunners round out the quartet of live TV games with a trip to the Super Pit in Denton to face North Texas (Saturday, Feb. 24, 3 p.m.) for the teams’ only meeting of the season.

In addition, the new Big Ten Conference rights deal with NBC Sports will put UTSA on Peacock for the first time when the Roadrunners travel to Minneapolis to face Minnesota on Friday, Nov. 10, with a 6:30 p.m. tip-off at “The Barn” – Williams Arena. The lone Pac-12 matchup, facing the Beavers at Oregon State’s Gill Coliseum on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 12 p.m. PT (2 p.m. CT), is scheduled for Pac-12 Networks.

Aside from one non-conference contest not announced yet, 24 of the remaining contests are already confirmed to air on the ESPN+ streaming schedule.

UTSA’s 31-game schedule features 16 games at home in the Convo, including nine American Athletic Conference contests during the Roadrunners’ inaugural season in the league. UTSA will play at least one home game this season on all seven days of the week, with the largest count scheduled on Saturday (4), followed by Thursday and Sunday with three contests apiece.

Entering the eighth season under head coach Steve Henson, the Roadrunners are looking to bounce back from a 10-22 record in 2022-23. Bringing plenty of new faces to the court at the Convo, UTSA’s 2023-24 roster features 13 new players hailing from nine different states to don the Blue and Orange this season - including six NCAA DI transfers, one NCAA DII transfer, four junior college transfers, one high school freshman and another familiar face returning to San Antonio after a year in another program.

All UTSA men's basketball games will air live on the radio in the San Antonio area on Ticket 760 and The Bull 93.3, respectively. Every broadcast will feature a 30-minute pregame and 15-minute postgame show, and they will be available online at Ticket760.com or The Bull 93.3 and everywhere fans want to listen via the free iHeartRadio app. Andy Everett will return for his 17th season as the play-by-play announcer of UTSA men's basketball games.
