Moore collects third AAC weekly award

IRVING, Texas — UTSA outside linebacker Trey Moore has been named American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season following his performance in the 41-27 win over East Carolina last Saturday at the Alamodome.

Moore registered three sacks and seven total tackles to help the Roadrunners win their fourth straight game and improve to 5-3 overall and 4-0 in the league. The redshirt sophomore outside linebacker pushed his season total to 12 sacks to break the program record of 10.5 set two years ago by Clarence Hicks and move within 2.5 of the American Athletic Conference standard. He leads the nation with 1.5 sacks per game and stands third in the FBS with a league-leading 1.8 tackles for loss per contest. The Smithson Valley High School product is the only FBS player to register three-plus sacks in three games this season.

Moore also collected the weekly honor on Sept. 11 and Oct. 16.

Frank Harris was named to the league’s honor roll after he passed for 395 yards and four touchdowns. The senior quarterback completed 20 of 32 passes in recording the second-most passing yards in program history for his second 300-yard game of the season and school-record 12th of his career. Harris improved to 36-12 as UTSA's starting quarterback and now has piled up 1,588 yards and 13 touchdowns on 134-of-203 passing in six games this season.

Preston Stone of SMU and Valentino Ambrosio of Tulane picked up this week’s offensive and special teams awards.

The Roadrunners will travel to Denton to face North Texas (3-5, 1-3) this Saturday, Nov. 4. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN+ and Ticket 760.
