IRVING, Texas —The American Athletic Conference officially announced the 2023-24 women's basketball schedule on Friday. UTSA is set to host nine opponents in the Convocation Center, with the AAC home opener set for Saturday, Jan. 6.
League play will officially begin on Saturday, Dec. 30, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the Roadrunners take on Temple inside the Liacouras Center. UTSA will remain on the road across New Year's as they head to Greenville, North Carolina, for a showdown with East Carolina on Tuesday, Jan. 2. The Pirates were one of The American's best last season, winning the league and punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament where they fell to No. 4 Texas. Additionally, the Pirates were at their best in Williams Arena, compiling a 13-3 record at home.
The Roadrunners then return to the Alamo City, meeting Wichita State in the Convocations Center's first AAC matchup on Saturday, Jan. 6. The homestand won't last long, with the 'Runners again hitting the road as they take on Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Florida, on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
UTSA will be back in the Convo for their next two, first hosting Charlotte on Sunday, Jan. 14, before inviting a South Florida team that went 15-1 in conference play and earned an at-large bid to the national tournament on Tuesday, Jan. 16. USF fell to the Shockers in the AAC quarterfinals and bested Marquette 67-65 in the opening Round of the NCAA Tournament. Eventually, the Bulls fell to a top-seeded South Carolina squad in the Round of 32.
Once again on the road, the 'Runners will visit UAB on Sunday, Jan. 21, ahead of a Saturday, Jan. 27 matchup in Dallas, Texas, with 2023 WNIT selection SMU.
The Roadrunners will stay at home for the following three contests, first facing North Texas on Wednesday, Jan. 31, ahead of matchups with another WNIT pick in Tulane on Sunday, Feb. 4, and UAB on Sunday, Feb. 11.
On Wednesday, Feb. 14, UTSA will meet Tulsa in the Sooner State, prior to a Sunday, Feb. 18, contest against UNT at The Super Pit in Denton, Texas.
The 'Runners will return to the Convo on Thursday, Feb. 22, where they will meet Temple before a matchup with FAU on Sunday, Feb. 25.
In their season's final road trip, UTSA will battle a Memphis squad on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Elma Roane Fieldhouse, a facility they went 11-4 in on their way to a WNIT bid. The Roadrunners will then travel to Wichita, Kansas, for a final showdown with the Shockers on Saturday, Mar. 2.
UTSA will play their last regular-season match in the Convocation Center, inviting a Rice squad that compiled a 23-9 record across the 2022-23 campaign on Tuesday, Mar. 5.
League action will officially culminate at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, as the AAC Championship Tournament spans Mar. 9-13.
