UTSA finalizes 2023-24 roster with addition of JMU transfer Cheyenne Rowe

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team and head coach Karen Aston finalized their 2023-24 roster as the Roadrunners announced the addition of James Madison transfer Cheyenne Rowe.
"I am thrilled to finalize our roster for the 2023-24 season with the signing of Cheyenne Rowe," Aston said. "She comes to UTSA with an experience of being on an NCAA tournament team, and many wonderful experiences with Canada Basketball. Cheyenne will strengthen our frontcourt and give our team a boost at the forward position. I am most excited about the potential of seeing how she develops in our system and also what she accomplishes in the classroom.  Cheyenne is a high achiever in all areas and will help strengthen our culture. We are excited to welcome her and her family to UTSA."
Rowe appeared in 16 games as a freshman at James Madison in the 2022-23 season. As a Duke, she averaged nine minutes and two points per game. She helped lead the team to a successful 26-8 season, winning the Sun Belt Tournament to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. She scored a career-high 11 points versus Maryland Eastern Shore, shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the field in 17 minutes.
A native of Ajax, Ontario, she played for the Canada U18 National Team at the 2022 FIBA Women's Americas Championship. She put up 12 points, 11 rebounds and two steals in a quarterfinal game against El Salvador to lead the team to the semifinals. She then recorded 10 rebounds, two points, two assists, one block and one steal in the semifinal against Argentina, before the team finished the tournament with a silver medal.
Her high school career success also included the 2019 Biosteel Girls Future MVP and Biosteel 2022 Team member. She represented Team Ontario in their U14 and U15 teams from 2017-19. Rowe was named First Team All-Star in U17 Canadian National Championships in 2019. She was also selected for Canadian National Assessment Camp. Rowe is the daughter of Waine Rowe and Hilary Chung-Rowe and has one sister, Ciara.
