SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA baseball team had three student-athletes – Luke Malone, Simon Miller and Isaiah Walker – named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, announced the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June.
Malone has been the Roadrunners' Friday/first game ace, setting the tone every single weekend since the season started. He totes a 6-4 record in 12 starts and 13 appearances. The Round Rock, Texas, native was named to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team prior to the start of the season. In his four years at UTSA, he has earned a place on the undergraduate President's List twice and the Dean's List twice. Malone has earned the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal four times as well as a place on the C-USA Honor Roll four times. He was named to the C-USA All-Academic team in 2022 as well as Academic All-District.
Miller has been unstoppable for UTSA this season with the ninth-best ERA, sixth-most saves and 44th-most wins in the nation. The Canton, Texas, native was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team prior to the start of the season. During his time at UTSA, Miller has earned a place on the UTSA President's List twice and the Honor Roll once. He is the recipient of the C-USA Honor Roll for three years.
Walker has been a key player in the outfield for the Roadrunners this season. Holding down the right field spot in UTSA's lineup, he has collected 23 runs and 11 RBI. The Rosharon, Texas, native has earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in his time at UTSA as a Mathematics major. He has been on the UTSA President's List three times and has earned the C-USA Commissioner's Medal twice and a spot on the C-USA Honor Roll twice as well.
