UTSA men smash school record on Saturday at Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas — The UTSA men's 4x200-meter relay team smashed the school record by more than two seconds in a bronze-medal performance on Saturday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The 4x2 relay team of Brice Chabot, Dennis Phillips, Trevion McCalla and Mike Roth placed third in one of the first collegiate events of the final day of the four-day meet. Running in lane nine in the second of two heats, the foursome passed the baton to a time of 1:21.49 to cross third behind Georgia's meet record 1:20.22 clocking, and Texas, which posted a 1:20.97.

UTSA ended up ahead of Abilene Christian (1:23.69) and notable teams such as BYU (6th/1:23.94), Nebraska (7th/1:23.98), Mississippi State (8th/1:24.10), Baylor (10th/1:26.25) and Tennessee (11th/1:27.00).

The Roadrunners' 1:21.49 eclipsed the previous school standard of 1:23.67 set at the 2017 Texas Relays, and it now ranks in the top 35 of the all-time list of collegiate 4x200m relay times available on the USTFCCCA's record database.

The women's 4x200m relay quartet of Ibiso David-West, Alanah Yukich, Geraldy Barron and Lauren Roy teamed up for a time of 1:38.78 to finish 10th. This came one day after David-West, Barron and Roy joined Thennelle Williams to win the 4x100m relay timed final in 46.24.

In the field, Oreoluwa Adamson leaped to an eighth-place finish in the women's long jump. The All-American from England measured 6.04 meters (19-9.75) on her first attempt of the day to finish just ahead of Nebraska's Velecia Williams (6.02m/19-9) and Georgia's Ella Rush (5.95m/19-6.25) in the 15-person field won by Texas' Ackelia Smith (6.57m/21-6.75).

In the men's long jump, All-American Christiaan Le Roux placed 12th overall and 11th among collegians. The South African also posted his longest leap of the day on his first trip down the runway, touching the sand at a distance of 7.59m (24-11).

Meanwhile, UTSA also wrapped up competition at the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday in San Marcos.

Paul Bouey and Michael Campbell each finished in the top 15 in the top section of the men's shot put. Bouey, a native of Chile, heaved the implement 16.70m (54-9.5) for 13th and Campbell was close behind in 15th after logging a 16.58m (54-4.75) mark.

Isabella Simonelli moved into the No. 3 spot on UTSA's all-time performers list in the women's hammer with a career-best throw. The junior transfer from Australia tossed the implement 54.82m (179-10) to place 20th and better her previous PB of 54.54m (178-11) posted last week at the Charles Austin Classic.

Zoe Shanklin posted a mark of 14.20m (46-7) to place 15th in the women's shot put, while Acacia Astwood was 26th in the hammer with a throw of 52.77m (173-2).

The Roadrunners are scheduled to return to action on April 12-15 at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, and at the Cactus Cup on April 15 in Kingsville, Texas.
