DALLAS – Three Roadrunners earned Conference USA postseason awards, highlighted by junior transfer Jordyn Jenkins being named both the Player of the Year and Newcomer of The Year – the third time this has happened in conference history and first in 10 years.
Jordyn Jenkins has been phenomenal this season, earning All-Conference First Team, Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. This is only the third time in conference history that one player earns both Player and Newcomer of the Year. The last time this was done was in 2013 by SMU's Keena May. This is the first time a Roadrunner has earned the C-USA Player of the Year since joining the conference in 2013. This also marks the second time a UTSA student-athlete has been named the Newcomer of the Year (last: Loryn Goodwin in 2017).
Jenkins leads the conference with 612 points, averaging 21.1 points per game. In her first season as a Roadrunner, she broke the single-season scoring record that stood for 32 years (prev. 583 by Tammy Rogers in 1990-91). She is 20th in the nation in total points and 12th in points per game. With a conference-high 218 rebounds, she plays a huge role in UTSA's conference-leading 40.03 rebounds per game and 6.4 rebound margin. Putting up a career-high 40 points in the Roadrunners' 68-67 win over North Texas, she has the second-best single game performance in the league this season. Jenkins ended the regular season with the most double-doubles in the conference (7), while also earning a conference-best four player of the week honors.
Elyssa Coleman was named to the All-Defensive Team, only the second Roadrunner to do so since joining the conference in 2013. Jadyn Pimentel in 2022 was the first time UTSA has had an all-defensive pick. Coleman is a big part of leading the Roadrunners to their most wins in five years. Coleman is second-best UTSA scorer with 276 points, averaging 9.5 per game. She is also second on the team with 218 rebounds, aiding UTSA to a conference-leading 6.4 rebound margin and 40.03 rebounds per game. She has the second most blocks in the conference with 49 blocks. She owns the top two single-game blocks this season (6 against FIU on 1/21/23 and 5 against TCU on 11/16/22). She averages the fourth-most minutes per game on the team (26.3).
Sidney Love has earned All-Freshman Team, the second Roadrunner to do so. Mikayla Woods in 2020 was the only UTSA student-athlete to do so before this. Stepping up as UTSA's point guard in her freshman season, Love has averaged 9.4 points per game. She has totaled 245 points, third-most on the Roadrunners squad. She has helped tremendously getting ball in play with 54 assists, also second on the team with that stat. She also has the second-most steals on the team (31). She has the fifth-most boards (94) on the team. She averages 27.8 minutes per game, third on the team.
UP NEXT: Earning the No. 6 seed, the UTSA women's basketball team is set to face the No. 11 seed Florida Atlantic in the first round of the Conference USA Championships. The Roadrunners and Owls will play on Wednesday at 2 p.m. on Court B at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
