DALLAS — UTSA sophomore Jemuel Miller has been named Conference USA Outdoor Male Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Miller soared to the 10th outright triple jump victory of his young collegiate career last Saturday at the UTSA Invitational. The two-time All-American from Barbados battled cold and damp conditions to post a mark of 15.54 meters (51-0) into a 0.9-meters-per-second headwind to grab gold.
Earlier this outdoor season, the three-time C-USA champion finished second overall and first among collegians at the Longhorn Invitational with a triple jump of 16.03m (52-7.25), which has him currently in the national lead.
This marks Miller's second weekly award of the season and third of his young career, while it also gives UTSA four total honors in 2023. Oreoluwa Adamson and Christiaan Le Roux swept the C-USA Indoor Field Athlete of the Week accolades on Jan. 17.
Charlotte's Maya Singletary, Riley Felts and DeMarkes Stradford II claimed the other three weekly awards today. The C-USA Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.
The Roadrunners will return to action this Friday-Saturday, March 24-25, at the Charles Austin Classic in San Marcos,
Texas.
