SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis hosts a pair of Conference USA opponents, first facing North Texas in a rivalry matchup on Friday at 1 p.m. before welcoming WKU on Monday at 1 p.m. in their first matchup in program history.
UTSA holds an 8-7 record after falling to Rice, 4-3, and UT Arlington, 6-1, last weekend. Aleksandra Zlatarova (12-2) has consistently dominated at the No. 1 singles spot for the Roadrunners all season. Lexie Weir (10-5) also had double-digit wins, playing at the second court. Zlatarova has a team-high 10 wins in doubles action, playing alongside Weir, Fatima Gutierrez and Magda Tuells at the top spot.
The Mean Green hold a 9-5 record after a 4-0 loss to Tulane on Friday, March 10. North Texas has a 6-3 lead over UTSA in the all-time series. The teams last played on Feb. 11, 2022, when the Roadrunners fell to the Mean Green, 4-0. The Mean Green's No. 2 player Matilde Morais leads the team with a 9-1 record, while their top court player Jasmine Adams has an 8-3 record. Both lead the team with 10 wins in doubles action, mostly pairing up at the No. 1 spot.
The Lady Toppers have a 9-6 record after a 4-2 win over SIU Edwardsville on March 5. This marks the first meeting between UTSA and WKU. Rachel Hermanova leads the Lady Toppers with a 12-3 record, playing at the second, third and fourth spots throughout the season. Mariana Zegada leads the team with nine wins in doubles action, playing at the second and third courts.
UP NEXT: The Roadrunners take the road next weekend to face two teams in Charleston, S.C., first taking on College of Charleston on March 18 at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. PT before facing Charleston Southern on March 19 at 12 p.m. CT/1 p.m PT.
