The Rundown
Both teams got off to a slow start on offense, as UTEP struggled from the field and UTSA struggled to keep control of the ball. At the first media break of the game, UTEP held a 7-2 lead. The Miners were able to extend their lead thanks to some live ball turnovers, moving ahead 15-4 at the under-12. UTSA finally was able to limit its turnovers, but UTEP started to find the bottom of the net, pushing its lead to 26-12 at the under-eight timeout. Coming out of the under-eight, the Roadrunners were able to stack stops and knock down shots, cutting what was a 14-point lead in half and trailed just 32-25 at the final break of the first half. UTSA was able to close the half with some momentum, being down just six, 36-30, at the break.

The second half was a tale of two parts. The first ten minutes of the second stanza, UTSA battled and clawed back to get within one of the Miners, 44-43, at the 11:13 mark. From there though it was all UTEP as the squad from El Paso went on a 15-4 run to regain control and essentially put the game out of reach as it went on to win by 11.
